The third action area attracts two types of creative artists: professional or semi-professional groups which produce high artistic and technical quality videoclips, and amateurs for whom a contest will be announced for submitting, among others, recordings made by mobile telephones, digital montages, cartoons etc. All visual products created in this activity will be made available for sharing and distribution under a Creative Commons license, and also be disseminated through YouTube, Flickr and other file sharing sites. A similar contest will be announced for privacy-friendly “positive clichés”. The primary objective of this activity is to create corresponding eye-catching visual products, such as short videoclips, digital montages or cartoons that present privacy and informational self-determination as a value in the information society; or reveal adverse changes or distortions in informational power relationships and the interests behind; or unmask privacy-invasive behavioural patterns. These videoclips and other genres can appear in traditional and new audiovisual media and can enhance the sensitivity of the audience to data protection not only at the level of being informed but also at the level of values and attitudes. They will also be made available content via the Internet forum under a Creative Commons license that allows for sharing and onwards distribution. Part of this activity will be the announcement of a contest in both countries for collecting or finding out privacy-friendly “positive clichés” in relation to information privacy, ICT and IT professionalism, inspiring creativity of psychological and sociological types. This would encourage the use and dissemination of privacy-friendly responses, behavioural patterns to the existing political and business slogans and other stereotypes influencing opinion formation and mass culture. These activities will be lead by EKINT in cooperation with the Center for Media and Communication Studies (CMCS) of CEU. TILT will be involved in working out the concept and in evaluating the products. Organizing amateur contests in The Netherlands will be the task of TILT. |
