In the second action area a tri-lingual (English, Dutch, Hungarian) internet portal will be created with blog and forum functions. It will serve as a forum for discussing, publishing and sharing ideas and works the subject of which are the impact of new technologies on information privacy, privacy-invasive technologies, and privacy enhancing technologies (PETs). The forum aims at raising data protection awareness in two target groups: 1. IT professionals (including the ones who work in explicit rights-restricting areas such as surveillance systems, border control etc.). For them the new site would become, on the one hand, a professional forum of scientific publications, studies and drafts, on the other hand, a forum for exchange of ideas, thereby having an educational effect and providing a forum to discuss, understand and develop ethical issues in the IT profession; 2. the general public whose members are internet users, themselves subjects of applying invasive technologies, but typically not aware of this fact. They are potential users of PETs but generally do not know these technologies. For them the site will be an information sharing environment, a forum of informal education and advice on how to use privacy preserving techniques. Technical developing of the internet forum will be realized in Hungary by EKINT, in consultation with TILT. The multi-lingual content management tasks will be divided between EKINT and TILT. We plan to realize the internet forum during the duration of the project in English and Hungarian and Dutch languages, establishing however the technical possibilities for developing other national language versions in the future. |
